Kohnke's Own Cell-Salts is a concentrated electrolyte supplement providing sodium, chloride, potassium and magnesium to replace sweat losses, correct dietary salt shortfalls and support normal hydration.

Designed for resting, working and travelling horses in normal to moderate weather with light-to-moderate sweat losses, such as conditions in NSW, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and southern Western Australia.

A highly palatable, all-in-one formula that mixes easily into wet or dry feeds – no additional plain salt is normally required when fed as directed.

Why Do Horses Need Electrolytes?

Equine sweat contains high concentrations of electrolytes, so even moderate daily work increases the need for dietary salts.

• Sodium & chloride – the major sweat electrolytes, important for fluid balance, hydration, blood volume, nerve transmission, muscle function and normal thirst
• Potassium – involved in cellular, nerve and muscle function; forage supplies some, but losses vary with diet, exercise and sweating
• Magnesium – contributes to muscle contraction and relaxation, nerve function and energy metabolism

Supports Drinking & Rehydration

Adequate sodium intake is involved in the normal thirst response, helping encourage horses to drink and replace lost water – particularly useful during travel, when routine and water sources change.

The feeding rate can be adjusted for workload, sweat produced, temperature, diet and forage, water intake, travel and individual needs.

Directions

Feed according to the current Kohnke's Own directions on the label. Excessive supplementation is not beneficial and may be inappropriate for some horses.

Cell-Salts makes daily electrolyte supplementation simple for horses in temperate climates with light to moderate sweat losses.

Always provide continuous access to clean, fresh drinking water when supplementing electrolytes – electrolytes never replace water, and supplementing without adequate water can worsen dehydration. Feed according to the manufacturer's directions. Horses showing significant dehydration, refusal to drink, weakness, abnormal sweating, heat stress, colic or poor recovery should be assessed by a veterinarian; seek veterinary advice before use in horses with kidney, cardiac or electrolyte disorders.
