Oral Fluid & Electrolyte Replacement

Vetsense VyLyte is a non-antibiotic, concentrated oral electrolyte solution that helps replace lost fluids, electrolytes and energy in a wide range of animal species.

Containing glucose, glycine, citrate and electrolytes, VyLyte is particularly useful during nutritional scouring, dehydration risk and periods of increased stress.

Suitable for piglets, pigs, calves, cattle, lambs, sheep, goats, horses, foals, dogs and cats according to label directions.

Dilution

VyLyte is a liquid concentrate and must be diluted with fresh, clean water for standard electrolyte use unless the label specifically directs otherwise. The final volume should be 12.5 times the amount of concentrate used. Measure the concentrate first, then add fresh water to reach the required final volume.

Fresh Water & Storage

Always ensure clean, fresh drinking water is available while using VyLyte. Prepared solution should be:

• Made using fresh, clean water
• Kept in a clean drinking vessel
• Discarded after 24 hours
• Replaced with freshly prepared solution every day

Directions

Foals – for scouring or dehydration: 1–2 litres of freshly diluted VyLyte, 2–3 times daily, or as directed by a veterinary surgeon.Bought-in calves – at the first feed after arrival give 2 L of diluted VyLyte instead of milk; at the following feed give 1 L. Do not mix VyLyte with milk or milk replacer. Then return to the normal feeding program.Scouring calves – 1–1.5 L of diluted VyLyte per 10 kg bodyweight daily, divided between two or more doses (3–4 doses where significant fluid loss has occurred). Continue normal milk feeding and give VyLyte between milk feeds.Suckling piglets – a litter of approximately one-week-old piglets may consume around 2–3 L per day. Ensure diluted VyLyte, clean water or sow's milk remains available; check and replenish about every 12 hours. For direct administration, give 20–30 mL of diluted VyLyte 3–4 times daily using an appropriate applicator.Weaned pigs – feed intake may be limited for 1–2 days while maintaining unrestricted access to water. Weaners may consume approximately 1–2 L of diluted VyLyte per animal per day. Provide for 4 days; where scouring persists, label directions allow use for up to 8 days in total.Scouring lambs and kids – 150–200 mL of freshly diluted VyLyte, 2–4 times daily, warmed to about body temperature and given with a suitable feeding bottle and teat.Pregnancy toxaemia (ewes and goats) – 160 mL of UNDILUTED VyLyte per animal using an appropriate drench gun. Repeat every 4–6 hours if required, or as directed by a veterinary surgeon.Dogs and cats – follow the manufacturer's Dogs & Cats Dosage Guide or veterinary directions, as requirements vary with bodyweight, age, degree of dehydration and underlying illness.Withholding period: Nil (0 days). Always confirm current withholding requirements on the product label.

Diarrhoea and dehydration can be symptoms of infection, parasitism, dietary problems or other conditions, and electrolyte replacement does not necessarily treat the cause. Foals and young animals can deteriorate rapidly, and pregnancy toxaemia is a serious condition – seek veterinary advice promptly for sick, weak or debilitated animals or where signs are persistent or severe.
