Linseed Oil & Omega Fatty Acids

Linseed, also known as flaxseed, is valued in equine nutrition for its naturally favourable fatty-acid profile.

It is particularly rich in alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), an omega-3 fatty acid, while also supplying omega-6 fatty acids.

These essential fatty acids play important nutritional roles in maintaining normal:

  • Skin health
  • Coat quality
  • Cell membrane function
  • General condition
  • Overall health and wellbeing

Regular supplementation can help support the smooth, glossy coat appearance associated with good nutrition and condition.

Skin & Coat Support

A healthy coat begins with appropriate nutrition.

Curragh Carron Oil provides dietary fats and essential fatty acids that support normal skin function and help maintain a soft, shiny and healthy-looking coat.

This makes it particularly useful for horses being prepared for show, sale or competition, as well as horses requiring everyday skin and coat nutritional support.

Digestive & Gastric Support

Curragh Carron Oil combines its linseed-oil base with a digestive-support component, making it more than simply a source of additional calories.

Oil can also provide dietary energy without adding additional starch from cereal grains, which may be useful when formulating feeding programs for horses requiring careful management of their concentrate intake.

While the product may provide nutritional support for gastric and digestive health, it should not be considered a treatment for gastric ulcers or other gastrointestinal disease.

Additional Energy Without Extra Grain

Fat is an energy-dense nutrient, making Curragh Carron Oil a useful way to increase the energy content of a horse's ration without simply feeding larger quantities of cereal grain.

It may be particularly useful for:

  • Performance horses with increased energy requirements
  • Horses needing additional body condition
  • Horses with limited appetites
  • Fussy eaters
  • Horses requiring additional calories from fat
  • Horses where owners wish to reduce reliance on high-grain feeding

Oil should be introduced to the diet gradually, allowing the horse's digestive system time to adapt.

Palatable for Fussy Eaters

Curragh Carron Oil is highly palatable and can be mixed directly through the horse's normal feed.

This makes it a practical choice for horses that are selective with powdered supplements or reluctant to finish their ration.

Ideal For

Skin & Coat Health • Brilliant Coat Shine • Additional Dietary Energy • Fussy Eaters • Performance Horses • Show & Sale Preparation • Horses Requiring Additional Condition • Digestive Nutritional Support • Low-Starch Feeding Programs

Feeding

Add Curragh Carron Oil to the horse's normal feed according to the current manufacturer's feeding directions.

When introducing oil to a horse that has not previously received supplemental dietary fat, begin gradually and increase to the recommended amount over time.

The horse's complete ration should be considered when adding a concentrated energy source, particularly where weight gain is not desired.

Dispensing Pump

Please note: the dispensing pump is sold separately.

If you require a pump for convenient and accurate dispensing of Curragh Carron Oil, please add the pump to your order as a separate item.

Important Information

Curragh Carron Oil is a nutritional feed supplement and should not be relied upon to diagnose, treat or prevent gastric ulcers or other gastrointestinal disorders.

Signs such as recurrent colic, persistent poor appetite, unexplained weight loss, girth sensitivity or significant changes in behaviour or performance warrant veterinary assessment.

When adding oil to the diet, ensure the overall ration remains appropriately balanced for protein, vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients. Oil supplies concentrated energy but does not replace the need for a nutritionally balanced diet.

Always follow the current manufacturer's feeding and storage directions.
