Equi-Solfen is a ready-to-use anaesthetic and antiseptic spray-on gel providing 4-in-1 pain relief and wound care for superficial skin wounds in horses.

Designed for superficial skin wounds, acute wound pain and minor wound bleeding, its unique formulation combines two local anaesthetics, a vasoconstrictor and an antiseptic in one convenient topical treatment.

Applied once daily for up to seven days, Equi-Solfen provides rapid and lasting relief from acute wound pain while helping reduce bleeding, protect against infection and support wound healing.

How Does Equi-Solfen Work?

Equi-Solfen combines four active ingredients with complementary actions at the wound site:

• Lignocaine – a local anaesthetic that blocks the nerve signals responsible for the sensation of pain
• Bupivacaine – a longer-acting local anaesthetic that complements lignocaine to provide extended local pain relief
• Adrenaline – constricts local blood vessels, helping reduce blood loss from the wound
• Cetrimide – an antiseptic and surfactant that helps protect the wound against microbial contamination

Rapid & Lasting Pain Relief

Pain associated with wounds can cause significant discomfort and distress. Lignocaine and bupivacaine temporarily block the transmission of pain signals from damaged tissue, helping make the horse more comfortable while the wound begins to heal.

Bleeding Control & Antiseptic Protection

Adrenaline causes blood vessels around the wound to narrow, reducing local blood flow and helping control bleeding from appropriate superficial wounds. Cetrimide helps reduce microbial contamination and supports an environment suitable for normal wound healing.

Apply once daily for up to seven days, according to the current product label directions. Ensure the wound is appropriately assessed and prepared before application and use only for the types of wounds specified on the product label.

Important Information

Equi-Solfen contains pharmacologically active local anaesthetics and adrenaline and should only be used according to the current registered product label. It is intended for appropriate superficial skin wounds and is not a substitute for veterinary treatment of deep, extensive or complicated injuries. Seek veterinary attention for wounds that are:

• Deep or heavily contaminated
• Puncture wounds
• Located over or close to a joint, tendon or tendon sheath
• Associated with significant or uncontrolled bleeding
• Showing swelling, heat, discharge or other signs of infection
• Located near the eye or other sensitive structures
• Not healing normally

Because local anaesthetics reduce pain sensation, pain relief should not be used to mask an injury that requires veterinary investigation.
