BZ-Resistant Worms

Resistance to some older benzimidazole (BZ) wormers has been identified in populations of small strongyles.

Equimec contains ivermectin and can control susceptible strains of small strongyles that are resistant to benzimidazole products.

However, resistance to ivermectin and other worming actives can also occur. Responsible worming practices are important to help preserve the effectiveness of available anthelmintics.

Equimec Paste features a low dose volume and practical syringe design for straightforward oral administration.

Responsible Worming

Routine treatment at fixed intervals is not always the best approach for every horse. Strategic parasite management may include:

• Veterinary advice where resistance is suspected
• Follow-up testing to assess treatment effectiveness when appropriate
