Equimec Plus Tape – Ivermectin & Praziquantel Horse Wormer

Broad-spectrum parasite control for horses, targeting roundworms, tapeworms, bots and parasites associated with summer sores.

Equimec Plus Tape combines ivermectin and praziquantel to provide comprehensive treatment and control of a broad range of important equine parasites.

The combination provides activity against roundworms, tapeworms and bots, including susceptible strains of small strongyles that have developed resistance to benzimidazole (BZ) wormers. It also controls certain parasite larvae associated with equine skin lesions, including summer sores.

Presented in an aniseed-flavoured oral gel with a graduated trigger applicator, Equimec Plus Tape is designed to make accurate dosing straightforward and minimise product loss during administration.

Active Ingredients

Ivermectin – provides broad-spectrum activity against susceptible roundworms, bots and certain parasitic larvae.

Praziquantel – provides targeted activity against equine tapeworms.

Equimec Plus Tape is indicated for the treatment and control of susceptible equine parasites including:

Tapeworm Control

The addition of praziquantel extends the parasite spectrum to include equine tapeworms.

Tapeworm burdens cannot be reliably assessed using a routine standard faecal egg count alone, so an appropriate parasite-control program should take into account the horse's individual risk, management conditions and veterinary recommendations.

Convenient Trigger Applicator

Equimec Plus Tape is supplied in a graduated trigger applicator, allowing the dose to be adjusted according to the horse's bodyweight.

To prepare the applicator, adjust the dosage control to the horse's correct bodyweight and lock it into position. Administer the gel orally according to the current label directions.

The low-volume, aniseed-flavoured gel is formulated to stick within the horse's mouth, helping minimise wastage and encouraging swallowing.

Dose Rate

Give orally at 1mL per 40kg bodyweight.

This provides:

Ivermectin – 0.2mg/kg bodyweight
Praziquantel – 2.5mg/kg bodyweight

The contents of one syringe will treat one horse weighing up to 600kg.

Accurate bodyweight estimation is important. Horses should be weighed or their weight estimated as accurately as possible before treatment to help prevent underdosing.

Responsible Parasite Management
