3D HoofCare Half Mesh (HM) Pad

A specialised half mesh hoof pad designed for use with impression material or lightweight hoof packing to help distribute load across the caudal aspect of the hoof.

The 3D HoofCare Half Mesh (HM) Pad is designed to provide additional support to the back of the hoof when used in conjunction with Dental Impression Material (DIM) or lightweight hoof packing such as Glue-U Shufill.

The half mesh construction allows the packing material to be incorporated through the pad, helping the farrier create support beneath the frog and caudal structures of the hoof while leaving a portion of the sole exposed.

Available in both Flat and 3° configurations, the HM Pad provides options for different hoof conformations and shoeing requirements.

Caudal Hoof Support

The HM Pad is designed to help share load across the caudal aspect of the hoof, rather than relying predominantly on peripheral hoof-wall loading.

When used with correctly applied impression material or hoof packing, it allows the farrier to provide additional support beneath the back of the foot, including the frog area.

This may be particularly useful for selected horses with:

The degree options provide the farrier with an additional tool when hoof elevation is required as part of an individual shoeing plan, including selected cases where management of the Hoof-Pastern Axis is a consideration.

3° Frog Recess

All 3° HM Pads feature a corresponding 3° frog recess.

This design helps accommodate a prolapsed or descended frog while allowing the farrier to incorporate the degree pad without unnecessarily increasing pressure through the frog area.

Suitable Environment

Because the Half Mesh design intentionally leaves part of the sole exposed, it is intended for horses kept and ridden in a controlled environment where stones and other sharp objects are unlikely to penetrate the exposed sole area.

For horses regularly working or turned out on stony, rocky or abrasive surfaces, a pad offering greater sole coverage may be more appropriate.
