High Protein, Low Starch Extruded Lupins

Mitavite Extru-Lupins are steam-extruded sweet lupins that provide a highly digestible source of quality protein and fibre, with very low starch.

Designed for horses needing extra protein for muscle development, topline and condition, including grain-sensitive and laminitis-prone horses that need a low-starch option. Extru-Lupins are fed as a top-up alongside a fully fortified feed.

Supplied as a 20 kg bag of palatable extruded lupins.

Why Extruded?

Mitavite's steam-extrusion process improves the digestibility and palatability of lupins, with over 90% digestibility in the small intestine. More of the protein and energy is used by the horse, and less ferments in the hindgut.

Hoof, Skin & Coat Support

Lupins are naturally high in biotin, and added canola and rice bran oils provide extra energy and help support hoof, skin and coat condition.

Feeding Rate

Feed alongside a fully fortified feed, adjusting the amount to suit your horse's condition and energy needs. When replacing grain by volume, swap one dipper of raw, rolled or cracked grain for one dipper of Extru-Lupins. When replacing raw grain by weight, reduce the weight fed by 30%. Refer to the bag for full feeding directions.

Mitavite Extru-Lupins are an easy way to boost protein and condition without the starch load of traditional grains.

Always read the label before use. Introduce any new feed gradually over 7–10 days. Extru-Lupins are a top-up and are not a complete feed, so feed with a fully fortified feed or vitamin and mineral supplement. Always provide good-quality roughage and fresh, clean water. For horses with laminitis, metabolic conditions or special dietary needs, consult your veterinarian or an equine nutritionist before changing the diet.
