Garlic for Horses
Garlic is one of the world's most widely recognised herbs and has a long history of traditional use in both human and animal nutrition.
It contains naturally occurring organosulphur compounds, which are responsible for many of garlic's characteristic properties, including its distinctive aroma.
When included in an equine diet, garlic should be fed at the manufacturer's recommended rate and should not be over-supplemented.
Apple Cider Vinegar
NRG Apple Cider Vinegar is produced using traditional fermentation methods and remains unpasteurised and unfiltered.
The naturally occurring Mother may give the product a cloudy appearance or result in sediment within the container. This is a normal characteristic of traditionally produced Apple Cider Vinegar.
Apple Cider Vinegar has a long history of use as a supplementary feed ingredient and is commonly incorporated into equine feeding programs for general nutritional and digestive support.
Skin & Coat Nutrition
Garlic provides naturally occurring sulphur-containing compounds, while the overall diet supplies the nutrients required to maintain normal skin, hair and coat condition.
NRG Garlic & Apple Cider Vinegar can be incorporated into a correctly balanced ration as part of an overall approach to maintaining general health and condition.
About Acid/Alkaline Balance
Apple Cider Vinegar is sometimes promoted as a way of “balancing” the body's acid/alkaline levels.
However, a healthy horse tightly regulates its own blood pH, and Apple Cider Vinegar should not be expected to significantly alter systemic acid-base balance.
Important Feeding Information
Garlic should not be fed excessively.
Very high or prolonged intakes of garlic and related Allium species have the potential to cause oxidative damage to red blood cells and contribute to Heinz body anaemia in horses.
For this reason:
- Feed only at the recommended daily rate
- Do not assume that more garlic provides greater benefits
- Avoid combining multiple garlic-containing supplements without considering total intake
- Follow the manufacturer's recommendation regarding periodic breaks from supplementation
- Seek veterinary or equine nutrition advice for prolonged use or higher feeding rates
Broodmares
The manufacturer recommends not feeding NRG Garlic & Apple Cider Vinegar to pregnant broodmares.
Follow this recommendation and the current product label when feeding breeding horses.
Important Information
NRG Garlic & Apple Cider Vinegar is a supplementary feed product, not a treatment for arthritis, anaemia, infection, joint disease or other medical conditions.
Although garlic and Apple Cider Vinegar have a long history of traditional use, they should not replace veterinary treatment or a correctly balanced equine diet.
NRG Garlic & Apple Cider Vinegar combines 10% garlic with naturally fermented, unpasteurised and unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar to provide a convenient traditional supplement for horses when fed responsibly at the recommended rate.
