Potassium Permanganate
Potassium Permanganate
Antiseptic & Disinfectant Crystals
Pharmachem Potassium Permanganate (Condy's Crystals) is a general antiseptic and disinfectant.
Used for wound care, skin infections and water purification, it must always be used as a very dilute solution.
Skin & Wound Care
Potassium permanganate is used in the treatment of many skin infections, including eczema, dermatitis, bacterial skin infections and thrush.
- For small, wet wounds, only a small amount of a very dilute solution is necessary
- Larger areas, particularly with blisters, pus or oozing, may require treatment with very dilute potassium permanganate baths
- To make a wound care solution, add enough potassium permanganate so that the pink solution just turns purple
Important: Dilution Is Essential
Potassium permanganate crystals and concentrated solutions burn skin. Even dilute solutions can irritate skin, and repeated use may cause burns. Temporary hair and skin discolouration will occur with use.
