Respiratory Support Feed Supplement

Kelato PulmonAID Powder is a palatable feed supplement recommended for all performance horses to support the normal integrity and function of the lungs.

Designed for horses affected by allergic responses to dust and pollution or exercise-induced pulmonary haemorrhage (EIPH, "bleeding"), both of which can have a substantial influence on lung function and wellbeing.

A palatable daily feed additive, available in 1.8 kg, 6 kg and 12.5 kg.

Why Lung Function Matters

Athletes need good respiratory function to perform at their best. Allergic responses to dust and debris cause an inflammatory response in the lungs, resulting in mucus production and airway constriction. EIPH is the escape of blood from the capillaries where gas exchange occurs into the lungs, and sub-clinical cases are quite common.

How PulmonAID Works

• Lecithin – a constituent of the surfactant fluid that coats the lungs; surfactants help regulate liquid balance within the airway, assist large-airway fluid clearance and moderate the pulmonary inflammatory response
• Chlorophyll – an antioxidant that helps protect cells from free radical damage and oxidative stress, and aids in the dissolution of mucus in the lungs
• Vitamin A – an antioxidant that works in conjunction with chlorophyll
• Vitamin E – an antioxidant the horse cannot produce, which helps protect cell membranes from oxidative damage
• Vitamin D3 – higher blood vitamin D levels have been associated with improved lung function

Feeding Rate

Maintenance: 60 g (2 level scoops) per 500 kg bodyweight per day.

Exercise-induced pulmonary haemorrhage (EIPH):

• After a bleeding episode, spell the horse in a paddock for at least 8–12 weeks
• While spelling, feed PulmonAID at 60 g (2 level scoops) per 500 kg bodyweight per day
• Four days before a race or strenuous workout, increase to 120 g (4 level scoops) per 500 kg bodyweight per day, ensuring compliance with all relevant competition rules
