Sulphur Powder

Sulphur Powder

Sulphur Powder

Traditional sulphur powder for equine mineral supplementation and a variety of topical applications.

Sulphur Powder is a versatile product traditionally used with horses as both a dietary mineral supplement and for external applications.

Recognisable by its naturally bright yellow colour, sulphur is an essential mineral involved in a range of normal biological processes within the body. Supplemental sulphur may be used where additional dietary sulphur is required as part of a correctly balanced equine diet.

Sulphur powder also has a long history of traditional topical use in horse care and may be incorporated into grooming and insect-management routines where appropriate.

Sulphur as a Dietary Mineral

Sulphur is an essential mineral and forms part of important sulphur-containing amino acids and other compounds within the body.

It contributes to normal physiological processes and is naturally obtained through the horse's diet.

Supplementation may be appropriate where the overall diet does not provide sufficient sulphur; however, it should be considered in the context of the horse's complete nutritional intake rather than supplemented unnecessarily.

Topical Use

Sulphur has traditionally been incorporated into a variety of external horse-care preparations and may be used topically where appropriate.

When applying sulphur externally, avoid the eyes, nose, mouth, broken skin and other sensitive areas unless the product label specifically directs otherwise.

Insect Management

Sulphur powder has also traditionally been used as part of insect-repellent and pest-management practices around horses.

Effectiveness can vary depending on the insects involved and the way the product is used, so it should not replace a registered insect-control product where reliable fly, midge, mosquito or other parasite control is required.

Important Information

Always follow the manufacturer's directions for oral and topical use, including the recommended amount and method of administration.

Do not assume that coughing, nasal discharge or other respiratory signs are a simple "cold". Respiratory symptoms in horses can have infectious, inflammatory, environmental and other causes and should be assessed by a veterinarian if persistent, significant or accompanied by fever, breathing difficulty, lethargy or reduced appetite.

For dietary supplementation, consult an equine nutritionist or veterinarian if you are unsure whether additional sulphur is required.
