Stance Toxin Binder

Stance Toxin Binder

Toxin Binder

Targeted nutritional support to help bind a broad range of mycotoxins and support digestive health in horses.

Toxin Binder is a specialised equine feed supplement formulated with ingredients selected for their ability to bind or adsorb certain mycotoxins within the digestive tract, helping reduce their availability for absorption by the horse.

Designed to provide broad-spectrum support against both polar and non-polar mycotoxins, Toxin Binder can be particularly useful during periods when environmental conditions increase the risk of fungal and mycotoxin contamination in pasture, hay or feed.

The formulation combines Mycosorb A+, Actigen and PowerStance to provide targeted mycotoxin management alongside nutritional support for normal digestive function and hindgut health.

Key Benefits

  • Helps bind or adsorb certain mycotoxins within the digestive tract
  • Designed to provide support against a broad range of mycotoxins
  • Particularly useful during periods of increased environmental mycotoxin risk
  • Suitable for horses grazing potentially affected pasture
  • Provides additional support where hay or feed contamination is a concern
  • Contains Mycosorb A+
  • Contains Actigen, a source of Mannan Oligosaccharides (MOS)
  • Provides prebiotic support for the digestive system
  • Contains PowerStance powdered coconut oil
  • Supports normal hindgut and digestive function
  • Helps complement good pasture, feed and forage management

What Are Mycotoxins?

Mycotoxins are naturally occurring compounds produced by certain fungi and moulds. They can occur in pasture, hay, grains and other feed ingredients, sometimes without obvious visible signs of mould.

Hundreds of different mycotoxins have been identified, and horses may potentially encounter more than one type at the same time.

Mycotoxin risk can be influenced by temperature, humidity, rainfall, pasture species, harvesting and feed-storage conditions.

In Australian horse pastures, fungal or toxin-related problems may be associated with grasses and plants including paspalum, ryegrass, couch, some clovers and weeds, depending on the particular fungus and environmental conditions involved.

Mycosorb A+

Mycosorb A+ combines a specific yeast-derived component with algae-based material to provide broad-spectrum mycotoxin binding support.

The yeast component is designed to interact with certain mycotoxins within the digestive tract, helping reduce their availability for absorption.

The algae-derived component provides additional adsorption capabilities, helping broaden the range of mycotoxins targeted by the formulation.

Actigen

Actigen is a yeast-derived ingredient containing Mannan Oligosaccharides (MOS).

MOS are commonly used as prebiotic ingredients to help support a healthy intestinal environment and maintain the balance of beneficial microorganisms within the digestive system.

This provides additional digestive support alongside the toxin-binding components of the formula.

PowerStance

PowerStance is a powdered coconut oil ingredient providing a source of naturally occurring fatty acids, including lauric acid.

It is included to complement the formulation and provide nutritional support for normal digestive function, appetite and overall gut health.

When May Toxin Binder Be Useful?

Toxin Binder may be considered when horses are:

  • Grazing pasture where fungal or mycotoxin exposure is a concern
  • Grazing during warm and humid conditions
  • Consuming hay or feed where mycotoxin contamination is suspected
  • Exposed to changing pasture conditions
  • Experiencing unexplained issues where feed or pasture quality is being investigated
  • Requiring additional digestive and hindgut nutritional support

Possible Signs Associated With Mycotoxin Exposure

The effects of mycotoxin exposure can vary considerably depending on the type of toxin, amount consumed, duration of exposure and individual horse.

Signs associated with fungal toxins or contaminated pasture can vary and may include:

  • Neurological abnormalities such as staggers, tremors or abnormal coordination
  • Muscle stiffness or weakness
  • Changes in appetite or condition
  • Reduced performance
  • Skin or coat abnormalities
  • Unusual sweating
  • Changes in behaviour
  • Digestive disturbances
  • Reproductive problems in some circumstances

Some toxins can also adversely affect internal organs or normal physiological function when exposure is significant.

Importantly, these signs are not specific to mycotoxin exposure and can occur with many unrelated medical, nutritional or management conditions.

More Than Just a Toxin Binder

Toxin Binder combines targeted mycotoxin-binding ingredients with prebiotic and digestive nutritional support, making it a useful addition to a broader feed and pasture management program when mycotoxin exposure is a concern.

However, supplementation should not replace appropriate management of contaminated pasture, hay or feed.

Important Information

Suspected mycotoxin poisoning can be serious. Severe neurological signs, collapse, significant weakness, persistent illness or rapidly deteriorating behaviour require prompt veterinary attention.

Signs such as stringhalt, staggers, coughing, skin disease, photosensitivity, poor topline, behavioural changes and excessive sweating can have numerous causes and should not be assumed to indicate mycotoxin poisoning based on symptoms alone.

Where contamination is suspected, assess the horse's pasture, hay, concentrates and feed-storage conditions, and seek veterinary or nutritional advice where appropriate.

Always follow the manufacturer's current feeding directions and provide horses with clean water and good-quality forage.
