Virbac Strategy T
Strategy-T Horse Worming Paste
Broad-spectrum combination wormer containing Oxfendazole and Pyrantel for the treatment and control of major gastrointestinal parasites in horses, including tapeworms and benzimidazole-resistant small strongyles.
Strategy-T combines two worming actives – Oxfendazole and Pyrantel – which work together to provide broad-spectrum control of important equine gastrointestinal parasites.
Its combination formula makes Strategy-T a useful option within a strategic parasite-control program, particularly where an alternative to mectin-based wormers is appropriate.
Presented as a palatable vanilla-flavoured oral paste, one 35mL tube treats a horse weighing up to 700kg.
Dual-Active Worm Control
Strategy-T contains:
Oxfendazole – a benzimidazole anthelmintic used for the control of susceptible gastrointestinal worms.
Pyrantel Embonate – an anthelmintic providing complementary activity against important equine parasites.
Together, the two active ingredients provide broad-spectrum parasite control, including activity against tapeworms and certain benzimidazole-resistant small strongyles, as specified on the registered product label.

Strategic Parasite Management
Strategy-T can be incorporated into a parasite-management program based on the individual horse's parasite burden, age, property conditions and resistance risk.
Rather than automatically rotating wormers at set intervals, modern parasite management may include:
- Accurate dosing according to bodyweight
- Faecal egg count (FEC) testing
- Appropriate pasture and manure management
- Selecting worming actives according to parasite risk
- Monitoring treatment effectiveness and resistance where appropriate
Broad-Spectrum Control with Two Active Ingredients
Strategy-T combines Oxfendazole and Pyrantel in a convenient vanilla-flavoured paste, providing broad-spectrum gastrointestinal worm control and a valuable alternative active combination for equine parasite-management programs.
Always administer according to the registered product label. Underdosing can contribute to treatment failure and anthelmintic resistance, so bodyweight should be estimated as accurately as possible. For young horses, properties with known worm resistance or horses with a high parasite burden, seek veterinary advice regarding an appropriate worming and faecal egg count program.
